Bestbrook Mountain Farmstay
Everything you need to know about staying at Bestbrook Mountain Farmstay.
Welcome to a picturesque campsite nestled on the rolling foothills of the Great Dividing Range in South East Queensland.
The area is renowned for its incredible hiking, with Mount Cordeaux right on its doorstep. A hike that boasts dramatic mountain top views.
Bestbrook Mountain Farmstay offers a beautiful escape for families wanting a destination getaway. And while there’s temptation to explore the greater region, there’s also no need to leave the farm for a wonderful experience.
In this mini guide to Bestbrook Farmstay, we will share some of insights from our experience here.
Accommodation
Bestbrook Mountain Farmstay have something for everyone and every budget with an array of accommodation to select from. With cabins, campsites and dorm style rooms to choose from, everyone can experience the best of the farmstay and the broader region.
Whilst we were on the start of a road trip in our new rooftop tent, we obviously were attracted to the camp option and found a wonderful secluded and private spot on the creek.
Upon arrival at check in at reception, as we were self sufficient we were offered to pick any site that we liked. There are power points scattered throughout the park, and they do recommend that you bring extra along extension power leads so that you can still park up where you wish and be connected to power if you require a powered stay.
We think that if it was a little busier we might have needed to select a region of the park - Tranquility, Causeway and Lakeside Gap Creek and Gap Creek Flat, Peacock Crossing and Bore Flat. We picked a lovely grassy flat area next to the creek. Please note that there aren’t designated numbered sites to pick and secure.
Our spot had a fire ring, where you could have an open fire, and whilst we didn’t have a fire, it would be so lovely especially in cooler weather.
Facilities
There are a couple of portable shower and toilet points throughout the camping area. And whilst the toilets and shower areas are small and a bit tight to move around in, they are clean and the water is hot.
We found that the site we had picked was a bit of a further distance to the shower block, and this was a compromise that we made to be away from other people. We did however have a portable toilet close by, and as we weren’t nearby anyone else, we did have this all to ourselves.
The facilities were probably an area where there could be improvement, as portable showers and toilets aren’t always the nicest to use. However, we understand the complexity in setting up this sort of infrastructure in this setting. The facilities were neat, tidy and clean and at the end of the day, that is all that is needed. And if you have been off grid for any period of time, having access to these is an absolute luxury.
Other than bathroom facilities, there is a small shop and a pub onsite. The small shop is stocked with any essentials or snacks that you might have forgotten or run out of. And the pub is very eccentric and also cosy with lots of trinkets donning the walls, and warm looking nooks. The shop and pub are a fair walk from the campsites, and there was no noise transfer either so we had a peaceful stay with only the noise of the birds and the creek bubbling.
The Farm Animal Experience
Whilst we were passing through the area and were needing somewhere to stay, we took full advantage of the farm stay activities that were available.
After a wonderful nights sleep in the rooftop tent next to the babbling brook, we rose and made coffee and breakfast before packing up site and heading up to the Farm Animal Experience.
The Farmstay activities run on Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Thursday. So please note that there are no activities or experiences running on Tuesday and Wednesday.
We headed up and watched the cow milking, before heading over to the animal feeding. At the animal feeding, children were delighted with the range of animals and had a hands on experience feeding the animals, the highlight being the sheep and the chickens.
The great thing about this farmstay was that these experiences come at no extra cost. If you are staying on site, you are welcome to join in. There are additional activities which are at extra cost (like horse riding etc).
